– Published by Sonic Acts, Amsterdam
Ecoes is a new periodic magazine from Sonic Acts Press. The magazine continues Sonic Acts’ emphasis on artists and thinkers proposing alternatives to the anthropocentric view that sees Earth and the non-human world as an endless resource.
The first issue presents artists that focus on mining, microplastics, the origins of the blues from an Indigenous perspective that sees humans as entangled with the environment, Cold War toxic legacies and depleted uranium, invasive species and deadly clouds in one of the epicentres of extractivist operations in the Russian Arctic.

UN-WAR SPACE
Armina Pilav in her pluriannual research Un-war Space, on the entanglements of war and un-war spaces, refuses to give a single idea on the “destructive metamorphosis” (Doršner, 1994) of the city of Sarajevo, that was once under siege. She instead gives us a performing archive in a form of compressed, specially designed, exhibition device through which we can now, more than twenty years later, in the “age defined by planetary civil war” (Steyerl, 2017), mass migrations and growing inequalities, see, read or speak about the war in Sarajevo. The device acts as a thinking-in-progress machine, that bears witness how citizens, through spatial (re)actions and (re)usage of available architectural and non-architectural materials, were undoing the war in Sarajevo.
The archive contains numerous video and sound documentation, photos, architectural drawings and the Un-war Lexicon, but it is purposely left unfinished, so it can receive ever new testimonies, and politically position the necessity of collective (re)thinking of the war in Sarajevo, or any other violent conflict in the world.
The Un-war device will be first presented to Sarajevo audience and then travel to Mostar, Zagreb, Pula, Delft, London, Venice and so forth.
The Un-war Space installation is a collective art work by Ana Dana Beros, Rafaela Drazic, Miodrag Gladovic, Matija Kralj and Mauro Sirotnjak conducted by the architect and researcher Armina Pilav.

Didactic Exhibition
As part of the Performing the Museum project, the MSU is presenting the restored Didactic Exhibition of 1957 in its entirety.
This historical, pioneering educational project, created in 1957 by the former City Gallery of Contemporary Art, and conceived as a travelling exhibition, aimed at educating the public about contemporary and abstract art. On ninety-two panels featuring photographs and reproductions from books and magazines, the Didactic Exhibition told the story of the emergence of abstract art, from Paul Cezanne to 1957. The concept itself stepped beyond the format of museum education.
The motivation behind it was an exhibition of prints by members of the Parisian Espace Group, Edgard Pillet, Victor Vasarely and André Bloc, proposed by the art critic Josip Depolo.

Between-Between is a space which is part of Studio-Between. BB aims to achieve the communication between Studio-B and other artists and designers. BB is planning to curate some official exhibitions as a process or result of communication during one year. The first official exhibition titled “Between” features 12 young designers and design studios around the world. BB asked and invited them to think and respond to the meaning of the word. As a co-curator and participant, BB is also interested in the result of their answers that hopes to get the different approaches and outcomes from each participant.
